W07 Tutorial Reflection

After the presentation last week, I talked with Peter about furthering the site ideas:

Type of Architecture: Multi-generational learning facility.
Scale: Scale of building is to be felt on multiple levels, from the home and local community, to the greater City context.
Target Users: Community: targeting all ages in one location.
Possible Scenarios: After the decision to Masterplan Brisbane City to be inclusive of infrastructure and green space integration, a staged plan is set in place:
Stage 1: Definition of key locations around the city to develop in the next 50 years.
Stage 2: Development of facilities in each location to make areas more walkable and accessible.
Stage 3: Development of infrastructure to facilitate accessibility throughout the city.
Stage 4: Redirection of Suburban traffic to facilitate the integration of community green spaces on a local scale.
Stage 5: Dispersion of green spaces to reduce the stigma of "Botanic Gardens" etc, to make these spaces a normal activation of residential areas.

OVERALL GOAL: To create integrated suburban-city areas that facilitate local enrichment and appreciation. Through the increased understanding of local community and the integration of multi-generational interaction, a greater sense of community education and growth is to achieved and nourished.

Categories of education:
Traditional Education: Set within National curriculum models and have set educative goals and levels. A small basis of this will be set within Paddington Central. Setting up classes more locally to give a diverse context for traditional learning.
Physical Education: Learning of the body for the improvement of health and wellbeing. Paddington Central will have physical improvement as a part of its identity. The health of community is vital to its ability to be involved in City activities.
Emotional/Spiritual Education: The emotional wellbeing gives a depth to community that far supersedes a traditional education. Through the involvement of multiple generations and giving greater context to life and community goals, an emotional understanding can be brought to the community and to the individual at all ages.
